Misisipi Rider celebrates YARD SALE!
Hey everyone!
A free show Saturday night. What else is better? Nuttin….
Yard Sale is having their cd release Saturday at Cafe Royale at in the Tendernob, and Misisipi Rider is gonna be the opener! This time out it’ll just be me and Cree (and we have Jimmy Sweetwater sitting in to distract you from our Katy and Douglessness).
Yard Sale are the best best best. Jill, Mel, and Denise are stars in their own right but together they are the whole dang Milky Way. They write and sing the neato tunes your ear longs for, some will make you laugh, some will make you cry. I could go on and on about the famous people they remind me of, but that would be boring, and who needs famous people when we have top quality singing to us for free on a Saturday night?
Misisipi Rider/YARD SALE CD RELEASE!
Saturday July 11 8:30 sharp
800 Post at Leavenworth

Hey now! Rider at Utah Tuesday.
Misisipi Rider is gonna be a playin’ at the Hotel Utah on Tuesday May 26. We storm the stage with a passion filled vengeance around 9:30 pm. Won’t you say yay and join us for our last official SF show till, like, August?
Right on! I’ll see you there, you’ll see us there and all will be right for at least one more night.
Mike
ps. no poster for this one, so instead here’s some pictures of us in Potland
I think we got a beauty for you on Saturday…
Friends, neighbors, and the like…. When we’re lucky enough to have beauty in our lives we need to celebrate it.
77 el Deora/Misisipi Rider(cd release)/Gayle Lynn
Saturday May 16 9:00 PM sharp!
Starry Plough, Berkeley
cheap admission
Misisipi Rider is debuting our new cd for the east side on Saturday and I really, really hope you can make an appearance! The short version is we got two of the best bands (77 el Deora, Gayle Lynn who both played Slims in Jan.) on the West Coast to entice you out to our party. It’s at the Starry Plough, it is cheap, there is good food, and Misisipi Rider just got back from a short tour and are tighter then Lindsey Lohan’s skinny jeans.
now the long version…..
We are honored to have had this show organized by the headliner (and producer of my shiny solo cd “Cold Hard Facts”) Maurice Tani. Many people share my opinion that his group, 77 el Deora, is THE BEST BAND in the Bay Area. Not “best band following the current fads or wearing the silliest costumes or doing the most cloying schtick” – no, 77 el Deora is a timeless band that writes and performs an original and very catchy mix of noir rock, pop and (that dirty word) country music. If Fleetwood Mac and Leonard Cohen got together with Waylon Jennings and Jeff Beck, well that would be a great show and it would be a lot like the show you will get on Saturday.
The opener is Gayle Lynn and the Hired Hands, who will be the best band in the Bay Area when 77 el Deora finally gets signed to CURB Records. Gayle writes both stunningly personal songs and fun party songs, and sometimes puts both together that make you shed tears in your tequila, hug total strangers, and buy the bar a round. Gayle and her band will be LIVE ON THE RADIO Saturday afternoon to promote the show (with your truly as a special guest) on the HAM JAM on KPIG (also on the HAM JAM will be Gurf Morlix of Lucinda Wiliams, Dwight Yoakum and Warren Zevon). They are worth the price of admission alone, but y’all probably already know that too…..
Anyway, we go on in the middle, and we are gonna rock your socks off. We played and played and played in Portland, and wowwed them everywhere we went. We are real happy with the cd, it is getting great reviews and selling well. Please come out and help us keep local music accessible for all good people.

Be Free this Sunday, and a new band in town!
Two neato shows this week, please come down for one if you can.
First, this Friday Cree, me and Jimmy Sweetwater debut our new group “The Mission Three” at the Red Devil lounge this Saturday, [Yes, Saturday] April 25. Jimmy adds some Levon Helms, I add some Dixieland, and Cree adds some blue eyed blues. We made an ep and it sounds real nice. We go on AT NINE PM SHARP, and we play one half hour exactly. Also playing (and, well, hell, this is the real meat of the whole deal) is 77 El Deora and Diego’s Umbrella. Now that is a show. Please come out for our world debut!
Sunday afternoon Misisipi Rider makes our debut at Thee Parkside Afternoon Roots Sundays. Just like the good ol’ Drifters days. We go on at 4:30 SHARP. They have to kick us out for a night show at seven, and there is another band, so we have to go on at 4:30. This show is FREE. The Country Squires/Starlene played it last Sunday, and the sound is really good in the place. Boom (the booker/sound guy) is really attentive, the bartender was real nice, the patio was clean and peaceful and the food is good. They also have a Jim Beam/beer back special just for you! Please come see us, we are getting the songs down real nice! (I should mention that our friend Eric Reedy’s band the B Stars are playing later that night at Thee Parkside)

Misisipi Rider is playing the Rickshaw stop with the superduper Eilen Jewel from Boston. Eilen is on a national and European tour in support of her critically acclaimed new record. She was through here a few months ago with Red Meat and Axton Kincaid and I heard rave reviews from everyone who caught the show. Kitty Rose opens, we close, and the night runs from 8:30 to 11:30. Help us help Americana music get a foot in the door at the Rickshaw Stop. This gig was hard to come by and let me put it this way, promises were made…
