Hey y’all
I’m playing another short solo set tomorrow (Thursday) at the Ballyhood Bar and Cafe at 19th just east of Mission St. Cree and GIlly, my two loyal fans, are both out of town, so I’ll have no one to sing the fun backup parts with me. Might you come and take their place? It’s free, it’s at 8 PM, and it’ll only take half an hour of your time! And it will bring many more hours of happiness. At least it will for me…..
I will play the following tunes I hardly ever play Just a Patch of Rain
Lonely Ol House on Memory Lane
Fly Low Little Bluebird
Louisiana Living and I’m Getting Fat
A Toast To Absent Friends
Me and Cree
Leave Me to my Dreams (ok, that one isn’t that rare)
If you come and help me sing, I will also do “Born Again”
Hey y’all
Something silly but neat happened to me yesterday. A bunch of months ago my friend Peter filmed me singing the song “Strangers” by the Kinks, which we posted on Youtube. A little whiie later I got an email from someone asking if I would let them use the recording for a student film. I said sure, but never heard anything more from them.
Last night, while I was feeling particularly loserish about being a musician I got an email with just this link, nothing else.
This song is me and Gilly’s little theme song, the one that ran through my head as I went through that whole mess a couple of years ago. Who could of guessed this kind of thing would come from that. I know it is just a silly lttle student film, but it means the world to this loser!
I will be performing a half hour solo set tonight at the Bollyhood (19th near Mission) at 8:00 PM. New Maps of the West and a couple of other bands that I don’t know follow.
My set will be the following:
Oh Sweet Suzanne
Me And Cree
A Toast to Absent Friends
Leave me to my Dreams
Whiskey Warm and Mellow
The Price I Must Pay
Come round if you are in the hood. I will go on as close to eight as the angels allow
-Mike
Hey everybody! As you may know, I just got back from a two week European tour in support of The Cold Hard Facts of Mike. Had a blast, but there is no place like home. And there is no experience for me like singing with Katy, Cree, and Doug. I hope y’all might come out and say ” ‘ello” at one of these shows.
Please note the Thursday show is EARLY AND FREE! And Doug’s mom will be there all the way from Missouri dancing with her new beau, so it is a very special show for us.
